Why our hours matter to you
Your Programme Has No Reading Week
Academy of Learning works differently from a university. Programmes run 21 to 51 weeks, Monday to Friday, and they start when you enrol rather than in September. There is no semester, which means there is no semester break.
That sounds like a small thing until you need a dentist. A university student can put a filling off until reading week. You do not have a reading week. Whatever needs doing has to fit into a programme that runs continuously until the day it ends.
So here is the practical answer. We are open Tuesday through Saturday and on Sundays by appointment, closed Mondays only. A Saturday morning appointment costs you nothing from your programme. Most dental offices in North York are shut at the weekend, which is precisely when you can actually get away.

What You Will Pay, and What You Will Know First
The price comes before the work
If treatment is needed, we give you the cost before we begin and nothing is added later.
Payment plans from $190 a month
At 0% interest, so treatment can be spread over time rather than paid at once.

Coverage You Might Already Have
Academy of Learning does not run a student health and dental plan. Private career colleges rarely do, so there is no student card that covers your teeth.
What many of our patients have instead is coverage through a job, a spouse’s plan, or a parent’s. Any of those can usually be billed directly, so you are not out of pocket for covered treatment. Bring the card and we will check it before anything starts.
If you have none of those, you may qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan, which we accept.
Newcomers
If You Are New to Canada
Academy of Learning says its purpose is to serve under-served students, and a good share of the people in its North York classrooms arrived in Canada recently.
If you are a permanent resident who meets the income rules, the Canadian Dental Care Plan may cover you. If you are here on a study or work permit, you usually will not qualify, and it is better to hear that now than at the front desk.
If you came as a refugee or asylum claimant, we accept coverage through the IFHP for the services it covers. Bring what documents you have and we will go through them with you.

★★★★★ "Trust" and "peace of mind" are probably the best words I can use to describe my experience at Pearl Dental Group. For many years, I had the same dentist back home, and I trusted her a lot. I honestly never thought I would feel comfortable enough to see another dentist, let alone have that same level of trust. After moving to Toronto, finding a new dentist was a real challenge for me. I visited some different dental offices because I wanted to find the right place for me. But my anxiety was so bad that my hands would shake, and sometimes I couldn’t even walk through the door. When I finally went to see Dr. Ebrahim, I told him before the examination, “I’m nervous.” The funny thing is, I was actually trying to hide how badly my hands were shaking. He simply looked at me and said, “That’s my problem!” I was a little surprised when he said that. But after the examination, I understood exactly what he meant. He took his time, examined me calmly, explained everything clearly, and made me feel that I didn’t have to be afraid. Little by little, I started to feel comfortable and realized that I could trust him. I was also dealing with a back problem at the time, which made sitting in the dental chair uncomfortable for me. Dr. Ebrahim and his team understood my situation and did their best to make things easier for me. I really appreciated that. I also want to thank Dr. Mehrnoush, Dr. Pouria, and Dr. Pouya. Each of them was involved in different parts of my treatment, and I genuinely had a great experience with all of them. Honestly, I couldn’t say one was better than the other. And a big thank you to all the dental assistants as well. They were patient, kind, and supportive throughout the process. These things might seem small, but when you are someone who gets very anxious about going to the dentist, they mean a lot. I can only speak from my own experience, and my experience was this: after years of trusting the same dentist and being so anxious about seeing someone new, I was able to build that trust again with another dentist. Now I understand what Dr. Ebrahim meant when he said, “That’s my problem!” For me, it wasn’t just something he said. He genuinely took my anxiety seriously and helped me feel comfortable enough to get through it. Thank you, Dr. Ebrahim, Dr. Mehrnoush, Dr. Pouria, Dr. Pouya, and all the wonderful dental assistants for being there for me throughout this experience.Posted on Google![]()

Common Questions
Does Academy of Learning have a student dental plan?
No. Academy of Learning is a private career college, and private career colleges rarely run student health and dental plans. There is no student card that covers your teeth. What you may have instead is coverage through a job, a spouse, or a parent, and we will check whichever applies.
Can I be seen without insurance?
Yes. Many of our patients pay for their own care. We quote the cost before we begin, and payment plans are available when treatment runs beyond what you want to pay at once.
What will the first visit cost?
The consultation is free. If you need treatment after that, we give you the price before we start and you decide from there.
Can I come on a weekend?
Yes, and it is the reason many of our student patients choose us. We are open Tuesday through Saturday until 6pm, and Sundays until 4pm by appointment. We are closed Mondays only. Since your programme runs Monday to Friday without a break, a weekend appointment costs you nothing from it.
Am I eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan?
The CDCP covers residents who meet income and residency rules. Permanent residents may qualify, and people here on a study or work permit usually do not. We accept the plan and we will check your eligibility with you rather than leave you guessing.
What if I am new to Canada?
Bring whatever documents you have and we will go through them with you. If you came as a refugee or asylum claimant, we accept IFHP coverage for the services it covers. We also speak Farsi as well as English.
Do you offer braces or Invisalign?
Yes. Dr. Arash Poursattar is an orthodontist board certified in Canada and the United States, and a certified Invisalign provider. He treats children, teens, and adults, with braces or clear aligners.
How do I get there from campus?
From 5075 Yonge Street, North York Centre station is downstairs. Ride the subway north to Finch, then take the Finch West bus a few stops to Bathurst. If you drive, there is free parking at our door.
